Saviour

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst. 1 Tim 1:15

Jesus’s mission in coming to the world was simply to save sinners. This is the crux of the message of the Gospel. The cross didn’t come as a surprise to him, but that was always the plan from the beginning. We used to sing a song in High School called “Born to die”. Because we could not save ourselves from our sin, it was important for God to come up with a rescue plan.

You can see it was well planned out. The angel announces Jesus’s birth to Mary before she conceives. The fact that he is born as a baby. His life. His death that he didn’t resist. This was no accident; this was the work of a Saviour coming in to rescue his people. This was a kind act of love towards an entire world and ll those to come after them.

The death of Jesus on the cross was one in our place. He took our punishment so that we might live and enjoy life to the full for all eternity. What kindness! What mercy! What grace! What love! “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Take time to thank him for such an act of love and for what that means in your own life.
