Healer

2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits –
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,…
Psalms 103:2-3

I think it’s accurate to say that for most of us, taking God at His word is not easy and yet for all of us, it is so crucial! The Psalmist says here that not only does He forgive all our sins but also heals all our diseases. The area of healing is where our faith is tested a lot. I trust that at some point in your life, and perhaps more than once, that you have experienced the supernatural healing of God. On several occasions, when I have been unwell, my wife has prayed for me and I have been instantly healed. I think she has a gift there, but don’t tell her I said that. It has also happened when my little children have prayed for me. It is true what they say about children, they have real faith!

But perhaps at some point along the way, you have also faced some disappointment either when you haven’t been healed or when someone you know hasn’t. That’s when we see faith as a muscle that we must exercise and grow. Taking God at His word is something that we need to grow in as we walk with our Saviour and cultivate a relationship with Him.

God is the Healer! He is Jehovah Rapha! His name means Healer! We would do well to study and appreciate this side of Him. Read stories of healings in the Bible because this is how your faith will grow. Don’t stop praying for the sick. Let’s believe God for miraculous results. Let’s lay hold of the promises of God and believe that we will see them come to pass.
