Do not keep silent

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?’ Esther 4:14

There’s a song by Lex Loizedes that we sing which goes “be still and know that I am God, I will be glorified and praised in all the earth. For my Great Name I will be found, and I can never be resisted; never be undone”. I love this song because it speaks of the purposes of God that cannot be thwarted. It’s by His unstoppable purpose that His Son’s Name is being glorified across the earth.

Now, concerning your role and my role in all of this, we have a mandate to tell people the Good News of Jesus Christ. You might think, well why do I need to tell people – God is having His way anyway. Well that’s not how God has designed things to work. On the contrary, knowing that His purposes are sure fuels our fire to tell people about Jesus with confidence in knowing that God is more committed to His Son’s glory than we are.

Mordecai essentially said to Esther to not keep silent because if she did God would use someone else to accomplish his purposes. Esther did not shrug her shoulders and say let God have His way. I am sure she counted it a privilege that she would be God’s choice to use to accomplish them. We are a privileged people who can advance the purposes of God with confidence.

So do not keep silent; speak because God wants to give you words. He will use them to bring transformation to lives and communities.
