A promise of provision

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:19

People often say that you need to watch what you say around your children because they remember it and they will find just the right time and place to use it against you. One thing I have found my children remember is promises. When you make them a promise, they will remember and they will take you to task. “But you promised”. When you promise them something, they take it as a done deal. Perhaps this is why God commands us to have child-like faith.

A promise from God is very powerful in our lives. It gives us something to hold on to. It keeps us going when the going is tough. It gives us hope. Now here’s one for us: And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Let’s take it as plain and simple; our needs shall always be met. God promised it and he will do it! There is no need to worry.

I love the amazing words of that song we sang this morning in Church: “Redeemer of my past and present wrongs, holder of my future days to come”. If anything, let’s look back at God’s track record and surely that will help us to hold on to his promises of things to come. I know that life is tough and sometimes the future looks bleak, but hold on because God said he would supply all your needs, not according to your brilliance, but according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. That’s huge! God is good!
