The Bible – Our guide

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalms 119:105

This is the longest chapter of the entire Bible and each of the 176 verses is a short, power-packed nugget about the word of God. What verse 105 basically teaches us is that the Bible shows us which way to go. Essentially, life is full of decisions that we need to make on a daily basis and we could all use some wisdom on how to best make them. It is imperative that we be full of God’s word!

The Bible is our blueprint for how to live good, healthy, meaningful and productive lives. It teaches us how to handle all our relationships (with spouses, the opposite sex, the same sex, children, parents, bosses, workers, even our enemies), how to handle finances, disappointment, temptation and the list could go on. Also if we are full of God’s word, we find wisdom for those situations unique to us at that particular moment, that may not be directly addressed by the Bible, for example, “shall I take up this job offer?” Remember, God’s Spirit brings the word to life in our hearts and lives and he gives us the wisdom that we need. So as you read the Bible today, ask God to give you a big measure of wisdom, so that you may live the life he would have you live.
