Proclaim the kingdom!

As you go, proclaim this message: “The kingdom of heaven has come near.” Mat 10:7

The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 18:21 that “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” I think I have generally tended to downplay the power of this verse. God gives us the ability to proclaim things with power and to bring life into situations. Imagine going around proclaiming “The kingdom of heaven has come near”! Surely that is better than going around complaining. It’s about time the children of the kingdom started seeing themselves as agents of the life of God who have the power to proclaim and see the kingdom of heaven invading situations on earth. The courage! The boldness! The faith we have when we understand that we have some divine proclamations to make as part of our mandate that will bring transformation to the world around us.

It completely changes the way we view situations and what we say to people. If we have faith that every time we open our mouths, we are ushering in heaven’s kingdom and bringing it to earth, then we will be looking out for God-given opportunities to open our mouths and bring life, power and transformation. You and I know that this world does not know what God is like and what He has done for them, so we need to let them know. They do not really know that Jesus came and brought heaven to earth so that earthly people might become heavenly and that earthly situations might get a taste of heaven. What happens when heaven invades earth? Let’s show the world; they are dying to know.
