Be careful what you sow

7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Gal 6:7-8

Funny thing with us human beings – we never think that this principle applies to us. Our tendency is always to do the things we want when we want and how we want and also expect the ideal and perfect results. That’s a deception and there’s a reason Paul explicitly commands: do not be deceived! It’s a deception because, even subconsciously, we think we can pull wool over God’s eyes. Somehow we think we can live life the way we want and we entitled to having Him work things out the way we want as well.

There are 2 ways to sow – either to please the flesh or to please the Spirit, and then very simply what you have put in is what you get out. An elderly person said to me the other day speaking from their generation and referring to ours and the next: “I think of your children and I get scared”. We were speaking about technology and its role in the general degradation of moral standards. These days, it is so easy to sow to please the flesh, you almost don’t even have to try. What is not as easy is to live a disciplined, self-controlled life that diligently sows healthy and godly values into one’s life.

Walk with God and as verse 9 continues: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Being fully aware that garbage in = garbage out, let us also remember, and more-so, that God’s Word In, God’s Word Out!
