The crown of life

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

In Colossians 3:1-2 we are encouraged to set our hearts and our minds on things above and not on earthly things. This is because at the best of times, earthly things paint a fake picture of the perfect life with money solving all your heart’s needs, and at the worst of times, earthly things are also quick to remind you that this world is messed up and this can easily result in loss of hope. Setting our hearts and minds on things above helps to keep our eyes on Jesus and on the prize he has waiting for us. Remember that hope does not let us down, and that’s because hope says to the depths of our hearts, “it will all be well”. Persevering the trials in this world qualify you for a prize God has for you in heaven, the crown of life.

So keep on keeping on. Never give up. As Winston Churchill would say, “If you are going through hell, keep going.”
