He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. Col 1:28
We are called to make disciples. This is our mandate as Christians. We have seen that this mandate emanated from and is fully backed by the authority of Jesus Christ. We see in Paul’s words of Col 1:28 that not only is Jesus the source of the mission but also the subject. Paul declares of Jesus: “He is the one we proclaim!” As we go about making disciples, our message is this: JESUS! The mission is all about Him, making him known and famous. If we are to take our lives and mission as seriously as Paul did, then we need to realise that the main subject of all our thoughts, words and actions ought to be Jesus and we need to be living every moment of every day to make his Name famous among those he gives us interaction with and also as far wide as possible until the world is reached for him.
Song writer, Paul Oakley helps us with the song that says, “It’s all about you, Jesus. And all this is for you; it’s for your glory and your fame. It’s not about me, as if you should do things my way. You alone are God and I surrender to your ways!” As you go through today, remember that your number 1 mandate is to make the name of Jesus famous. Make every conscious effort to make him the main subject of your life. When you go to bed tonight, you ought to be able to look back over your day and to say with with conviction and confidence, “He is the one we proclaim!” It’s all about you, Jesus!
