God's Workmanship

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Among the marvelous works of God, is his stunning creation which is called “God’s workmanship”. That’s you! That’s what the Bible calls you. What do you think whenever you look in the mirror? “Too big? Too fat? Too thin? Too dark? Too short? Too shy? Too scared?” God helped us by recording the story of creation during which he powerfully spoke the universe into being. He made the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. On the 6th day, he paused. He took his time to converse among the Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) in declaring, “let us make man in our image”. He then took his time and formed man out of the dust of the earth. He made them male and female. They were to be special, made after his own likeness. Never too fat, too dark, too shy or too anything – just right! Perfect! Perfectly loved and accepted by the One that matters.

Remember that today and thank God for it. You are his very own workmanship. He deliberately made you the way you are and he loves you just as you are. Allow that to shape your self-esteem today. Allow that to build your confidence or courage. Don’t let the world tell you how you should be. Don’t let magazines dictate to you what your body size, weight and complexion should be or how you should dress or what you should own. Allow God to show you the beauty and strength he has given you. You take just after him, your Heavenly Father. Know who you are – his workmanship!
