Correctly Handling the Word

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Joshua 1:8

I have recently felt challenged to up my game in the way I handle God’s word, very much in line with this verse which encourages us to do the following:
  1. Keep the Bible always on our lips. That means read, recite and speak about the Bible…always!
  2. Meditate on it day and night. Ponder, memorise, turn it over in your mind, internalise it in your heart. Come to grips with it.
  3. This is all “so that you may be careful to do everything written in it”. If I remember well, Jesus encouraged us to teach one another to obey everything He has commanded. The bar is set high. Will you step up to the mark?
Did you notice in the verse above that this is the way to be prosperous and successful? Interesting when you consider the picture of success the world throws at us.
This is the first of a few devotionals to encourage and help you along in seeing the Word of God bear fruit in your life. I hope you will find them helpful.
Start by reading, memorizing and meditating on the verse above. Give yourself a few minutes to internalise it.
